print & collateral

Every time a business hands something to a client, it is making a statement about the brand. A proposal, a brochure, a business card, a presentation deck: all of it is being read for signals about the quality and care behind the business itself. When those materials are inconsistent, dated, or designed to a different standard from the rest of the brand, the gap is noticed even when it is not consciously named.

As a print design agency, Saint Associates extends the brand identity into every physical touchpoint. The same thinking that drives the visual identity drives the print design work: colour, typography, layout, and production quality all in service of the same positioning.

What print and collateral includes

The scope of collateral work varies significantly by business and by brief. For some clients, the priority is a brochure suite that can represent the business in pitches and client meetings. For others it is a proposal template that ensures every document the team sends reads to the same standard. For others still it is packaging, signage, or exhibition materials that carry the brand into physical spaces.

The common thread is that all of it should feel like it comes from the same place as the rest of the brand. Collateral designed separately from the visual identity, at a different time and to a different brief, undermines the coherence that makes a brand recognisable and trusted.

At Saint, print design and collateral work is always developed in reference to the broader brand system. If brand guidelines exist, we work within them. If they do not, we establish the rules the collateral will follow, so that future materials can be produced consistently.

Print and collateral in practice

For Mural Crown, the collateral work extended from the visual identity through to the client-facing materials the firm uses throughout its client relationships. A wealth management brand operating at the higher end of its market needs printed materials that carry the same authority and discretion as the rest of the brand. Paper stock, print finish, and production quality are all part of that brief.

For Exclusively Koi, the brand Saint developed had to translate across print as well as digital. The premium positioning established in the identity work needed to hold up on printed materials that the business's specialist audience, who know quality when they see it, would handle and evaluate.

FAQs

We manage the design and artwork through to print-ready files, and we work with trusted print production partners for the physical production of materials. We advise on paper stock, print finishes, and production specifications as part of the design process.

Yes. If brand guidelines exist, we work within them. If the guidelines are not detailed enough to cover the collateral being designed, we will flag that and agree on how to handle it. Designing outside of existing guidelines produces inconsistency that undermines the brand.

Yes. Proposals, presentations, and brochures often need to work in both print and digital formats, and we design for both from the outset rather than adapting one from the other after the fact.

It depends on how the business operates and how it acquires clients. Businesses that pitch regularly usually need a strong presentation template and a leave-behind. Client-facing service businesses often need a brochure or capability document. Businesses attending events need materials designed for those contexts. We will always start by understanding what the collateral needs to do before recommending what to produce.
