web design

For most businesses, the website is the most visited, most scrutinised, and most commercially consequential expression of the brand. How it looks, how it performs, how it makes someone feel when they arrive: all of it is shaping the decision about whether to get in touch or purchase a product.

Websites can often underdeliver because of unclear strategy upstream. What does this brand actually stand for? Who is this site for and what are their jobs to be done? What problems are we trying to solve? When those questions have not been answered, the result tends to be a site that looks reasonable and converts poorly.

At Saint Associates, we are not just user interface designers. We are experienced in digital product design. The visual design, the structure of the site, the hierarchy of information, and the messaging all flow from a clear understanding of the brand and the audience.

What web design at Saint involves

Every web design project is different, so our methodology varies depending on the size of the project and business needs. Discovery helps us to understand more about stakeholder requirements, business needs, user goals and the availability of existing data. Design processes also vary, depending on the scale of the project. This can range from small campaign pages to scaleable design systems.

Saint is a web design company with in-house development skills. This ensures that the quality of our work is maintained from design through to build.

Web design grounded in the brand

For Exclusively Koi, the website was a continuation of the brand identity Saint had already developed. The identity set the standard: a premium, authentic, Japanese-influenced visual language built for a specialist audience. The website had to hold that standard across every page and every device, whilst ensuring the user experience is optimal for conversion.

Typography, layout, photography treatment, and the language of the site all carried the same positioning as the identity work that preceded it.

FAQs

A straightforward brochure site with a defined scope typically takes ten to fourteen weeks from brief to launch. Larger or more complex projects take longer. We will give you a realistic timeline before we begin, not an optimistic one we then have to revise.

Yes. Design and development both happen at Saint. Web design projects move into development with the same team, which means the brief does not get lost in handover and the finished site reflects the designed one.

Saint builds primarily in Statamic, a CMS we know in depth and recommend for most projects. For e-commerce, we work with the platforms best suited to the project brief. We do not build in WordPress.

Yes. Website redesigns are a significant part of our web design work. The starting point is always an honest assessment of what is and is not working in the existing site, whether that is a design problem, a structural problem, or both.

Not necessarily, but it helps. Designing a website without a clear brand in place tends to produce something generic, because there is no underlying positioning for the design to express. If your brand needs work first, we will tell you. If it is in good shape, we can build on it.
